General Instructions :
Read the following instructions carefully and follow them :
(i)This question paper contains 10 questions. All questions are compulsory.
(ii)This question paper is divided into four sections – A, B, C and D.
(iii)In Section A, Question numbers 1 to 5 carry 1 mark each.
(iv)In Section B, Question numbers 6 to 7 are very short answer (VSA) type questions carrying 02 marks each.
(v)In Section C, Question numbers 8 to 9 are short answer (SA) type questions carrying 03 marks each.
(vi)In Section D, Question number 10 are long answer (LA) type questions carrying 05 marks each.
(vii)Draw neat figures wherever required. Take π = 22/7 wherever required, if not stated.
(viii)Use of calculators is not allowed.
SECTION A
This section comprises 5 questions of 1 mark each.
1.What instrument is used to draw a circle?
1 2.What is the radius of a circle with diameter 14 cm?
1 3.What is the difference between a ruler and a straightedge?
1 4.How do you bisect a line segment using a compass?
1 5.Name the three basic instruments needed for geometric constructions.
1 SECTION B
This section comprises 2 very short answer (VSA) type questions of 2 marks each.
6.Construct an angle of 60 degrees using a compass and ruler. Describe the steps.
2 7.What is the difference between constructing a figure and just drawing it?
2 SECTION C
This section comprises 2 short answer (SA) type questions of 3 marks each.
8.Construct a triangle ABC where AB = 5 cm, BC = 4 cm and AC = 6 cm. List all the steps of construction.
3 9.Draw a circle of radius 4 cm. Draw two diameters and verify that they bisect each other. What shape is formed by joining the endpoints of the two diameters?
3 SECTION D
This section comprises 1 long answer (LA) type questions of 5 marks each.
10.Rohan wants to design a symmetrical pattern. He draws a circle of radius 5 cm with centre O. He then draws 4 diameters dividing the circle into 8 equal sectors. (a) What angle does each sector make at the centre? (b) How many lines of symmetry does this figure have? (c) If he colours alternate sectors, what fraction of the circle is coloured? (d) What is the area of the full circle if radius is 5 cm? Use pi = 3.14. (e) Construct this figure describing each step.
