(i)This question paper contains 18 questions. All questions are compulsory.
(ii)This question paper is divided into four sections – A, B, C and D.
(iii)In Section A, Question numbers 1 to 6 carry 1 mark each.
(iv)In Section B, Question numbers 7 to 12 are very short answer (VSA) type questions carrying 02 marks each.
(v)In Section C, Question numbers 13 to 16 are short answer (SA) type questions carrying 03 marks each.
(vi)In Section D, Question numbers 17 to 18 are long answer (LA) type questions carrying 05 marks each.
(vii)Draw neat figures wherever required. Take π = 22/7 wherever required, if not stated.
(viii)Use of calculators is not allowed.
SECTION A
This section comprises 6 questions of 1 mark each.
1.What is the sum of angles in a linear pair?
1 2.What are vertically opposite angles?
1 4.What is a palindrome number? Give an example.
1 5.What is Kaprekar's constant for 4-digit numbers?
1 6.What is the sum of two odd numbers always?
1 SECTION B
This section comprises 6 very short answer (VSA) type questions of 2 marks each.
7.One angle of a linear pair is 65 degrees. Find the other angle.
2 8.Two lines intersect and one angle is 40 degrees. Find all four angles.
2 9.A transversal cuts two parallel lines. If one corresponding angle is 70 degrees, find its co-interior angle.
2 10.Apply one step of Kaprekar's routine to the number 4321.
2 11.Find the Collatz sequence starting from 6 until it reaches 1.
2 12.Prove that the sum of an odd and even number is always odd, using algebra.
2 SECTION C
This section comprises 4 short answer (SA) type questions of 3 marks each.
13.Two angles are supplementary. If one is 30 degrees more than twice the other, find both angles.
3 14.Two lines PQ and RS intersect at O. Angle POR=4x and angle ROQ=2x form a linear pair. (a) Find x. (b) Find angle POR. (c) Find angle ROQ.
3 15.Apply Kaprekar's routine fully to 3524 until it reaches 6174. Show all steps.
3 16.In a cryptarithm, ON+ON=GO where O=1, N=8. (a) Find ON. (b) Find GO. (c) Find G.
3 SECTION D
This section comprises 2 long answer (LA) type questions of 5 marks each.
17.A transversal crosses two parallel lines creating 8 angles. One angle is 65 degrees. (a) Find all angles equal to 65. (b) Find all angles equal to 115. (c) Explain the relationship between corresponding and co-interior angles here.
5 18.The Virahanka-Fibonacci sequence is 1,1,2,3,5,8,13... (a) Find the next 3 terms. (b) State the rule. (c) Find the ratio of the 8th to 7th term and relate it to the Golden Ratio.
