SECTION A
This section comprises 10 questions of 1 mark each.
1.Solve the cryptarithm AB × 5 = BC. What is B?
1 2.What is the digital root of a number that is a multiple of 9?
1 3.A number is divisible by 11 if the alternating sum of its digits is what?
1 4.What is the sum of all angles in any quadrilateral?
1 5.Define a square using its sides and angles.
1 6.What is a quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent equal sides called?
1 7.True or False: Every square is a rhombus.
1 8.Find the smallest multiple of 9 with no odd digits.
1 9.What property do the diagonals of a rhombus have regarding the angles of the rhombus?
1 10.In a parallelogram, if one angle is 70°, what is the adjacent angle?
1 SECTION B
This section comprises 4 very short answer (VSA) type questions of 2 marks each.
11.Using the alternating sum method, check if 481 is divisible by 11 and find the remainder if not.
2 12.Solve the cryptarithm XY × 4 = ZX. Find X, Y, and Z.
2 13.State two properties of the diagonals of a rectangle.
2 14.In a kite, what does the longer diagonal do to the shorter diagonal?
2 SECTION C
This section comprises 4 short answer (SA) type questions of 3 marks each.
15.If 48a23b is a multiple of 18, find all possible pairs of values for a and b.
3 16.Determine if this statement is Always/Sometimes/Never true with justification: "The sum of a multiple of 6 and a multiple of 9 is a multiple of 3."
3 17.Prove that if all angles of a quadrilateral are 90°, the opposite sides must be equal.
3 18.A quadrilateral has diagonals that are perpendicular to each other. Is it necessarily a rhombus? Justify.
3 SECTION D
This section comprises 2 long answer (LA) type questions of 5 marks each.
19.Find a number that leaves a remainder of 2 when divided by 3, a remainder of 3 when divided by 4, and a remainder of 4 when divided by 5. What is the smallest such number, and why?
5 20.Prove that the diagonals of a rectangle are equal in length, using congruence.
